The EU might “respond swiftly and decisively” against what it deems “unjustified” travel bans imposed by the United States against five Europeans involved in combating digital hatred and misinformation, an EU official has said.
EU Officials Decry US Move as ‘Intimidation’
Officials from Europe such as the French president accused the US administration of “coercion and intimidation”, following the travel bans were placed on figures who have been at the heart of campaigns to enact laws governing US-based technology firms.
“For too long, European activists have led coordinated campaigns to pressure US companies to suppress American viewpoints they disagree with,” stated a senior US official online. “The current administration will no longer tolerate such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”
