Vinted Members Express Frustration Over Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
